In the world of whiskies, Aberfeldy commands respect and enjoys a certain reputation, that too well deservingly. It is one of the leading names in the industry with its trademark Dewar essence in every product. Despite facing hardships in the early years, this whisky has persisted and continued to create an impact on people's lives.

It isn't easy to put a finger on a single thing that makes it so unique, but we can think of a zillion little things that add to its reputation, feel, and naturally taste, thus making it memorable. Keep on reading if you're a whisky buff and, like the rest of us, are intrigued by this beauty with impeccable taste!

Here's What We Know

To give you some trivia, the Aberfeldy distillery located in the center of Scotland exclusively manufactures this whisky and nothing else!

Even though back in time, the distillery experienced a massive barley shortage and eventually underwent closure, TWICE, it still found a way to persevere and manufacture Aberfeldy whisky as we know it today.

A lot of people have this theory that since it is manufactured in what essentially is the heart of Scotland, it goes as we call it "straight to the heart" with its mesmerizing tastes and aromas.

While some also speculate that the extra special taste that is characteristic to Aberfeldy is due to the water used in its manufacture.

The Aberfeldy distillery is located such that a pure water stream, "Pitilie Burn," runs just next to it and provides water for the whisky-making process.

What's also interesting to know is that this water stream provides water exclusively to the Aberfeldy distillery, which apparently contributes to its characteristic flavor.

Tasting Notes

Naturally, the most unique thing about this whisky is the entire sensory experience it offers to its drinkers. Here's a breakdown of all it's elements so we can understand what makes it so special.

On The Nose…

If it were to be described in a whiff, Aberfeldy would be what we call home in a bottle. Such are its sweet, kindled aromas of incense and honey that evoke the emotions of comfort with fruity tenderness to add a soft kick to it.

Imagine a cozy winter morning during the holidays, and you come downstairs to hot toast being freshly made topped with syrup and a newly cut bowl of green apples and juicy pineapples next to your favorite cereal. Now imagine the aromas in the kitchen; that is what Aberfeldy smells like.

On The Palate…

To the tongue, it comes with dynamic flavors and smooth textures that make it roll down the throat much easier as compared to other whiskies. It comes across as a burst of fruity freshness laced with a little bit of spice to add character and complexity to this very drinkable concoction.

The flavors progress gradually as the spice starts to grow and linger in the mouth in Aberfeldy Single Malt that finishes with a slightly bitter orange-y note balanced incredibly well in the drink.

Conclusion

On a parting note, Aberfeldy is one of the smoothest, most refined, and most fresh-fruity whiskies out there, and there are a lot of things that make it so special, but we think the key ingredients are the sheer perseverance and tradition that go into every dram.
